According to a recent report from renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, tech giant Apple is gearing up to launch a highly anticipated second-generation version of its revolutionary AirTag item tracker. While specific details regarding the new features remain scant, Kuo predicts that the improved integration with Vision Pro will undoubtedly be a significant selling point for this innovative device.
The possibility of an AirTag 2 has been in the rumor mill since June last year when Kuo first hinted at the development. At that time, the esteemed analyst projected shipment estimates of approximately 20 million for 2021 and an impressive 35 million for 2022. “If AirTag shipments continue to soar, I firmly believe Apple will forge ahead with the second generation,” Kuo stated in his report.
Fast forward to today, and it seems Kuo’s predictions have come to fruition. In a recent tweet, he confidently shared that AirTag 2 is set to go into mass production during the fourth quarter of next year.
Unveiling his insights further, Kuo asserted that Apple aims to establish spatial computing as a groundbreaking ecosystem, with Vision Pro serving as the cornerstone for seamless integration with other devices, including the highly anticipated AirTag 2.
It’s worth noting that Kuo has previously spoken about Apple’s plans to enhance its other product lines through Vision Pro integration. For instance, he reported that the forthcoming iPhone 15 would boast an upgraded Ultra Wideband chip, laying the foundation for a competitive ecosystem revolving around Vision Pro.
