Apple CEO Tim Cook has been making the rounds in China, meeting with various industry leaders and developers. Cook, one of the few US CEOs to attend the revived China Development Forum, has also met with the Chinese Commerce Minister, as he looks to expand Apple’s reach in the region.
As part of his tour, Cook has been visiting developers in China, just as he has done in his previous tours of Japan and Europe. One of the developers he visited is miHoYo, the team behind the hit game “Genshin Impact,” which won the Apple Design Awards in the “Visual and Graphics” category in 2021.
Cook shared his experience on the Chinese microblogging service Weibo, where he posted a selfie with the miHoYo team and praised them for their work.
“Fun meeting with the creators behind award-winning iPhone and iPad games like Genshin Impact. Thanks to the phenomenal team at miHoYo for showing me how you create immersive fantasy worlds for everyone to enjoy on the App Store”, wrote Cook.
Cook’s Weibo post, which was written in both English and Chinese, gained 1,200 comments in its first hours. The post was exclusive to Weibo, as Cook usually posts updates from his tours on Twitter. MiHoYo responded to Cook’s visit on Weibo, thanking Apple for their “continued recognition and support”. “We will continue to work hard to create immersive experiences for players around the world”, continued the developer.
Cook also visited Shanghai developers enrolled in Apple’s long-running Design and Development Accelerator program. The program provides resources and support for developers to create high-quality apps and games for the App Store.
