Brendan Hunt, the beloved Coach Beard in the hit series “Ted Lasso,” recently shared an intriguing encounter with none other than Apple CEO Tim Cook, who expressed his desire for more content from the show. Hunt has played a pivotal role in the Ted Lasso journey on Apple TV+, tracing back to 2013 when he and his co-star Jason Sudeikis teamed up for a Premier League advertisement for NBC Sports.
In a recent interview on “The Envelope,” a podcast by the Los Angeles Times, Hunt delved into various aspects of the show and his career. He revealed that before his involvement with Ted Lasso, he had been honing his skills in improvisational comedy in Amsterdam for several years. This connection came full circle when the show filmed an episode in the vibrant city during its latest season.
Living in Europe transformed Hunt into a genuine soccer aficionado. He admitted, “I was vaguely aware of soccer before.” However, his time in Amsterdam opened the doors to the entire football world, immersing him in a legitimate cultural experience.
One interesting tidbit Hunt shared was the origin of his character’s iconic beard. “I only had a beard in the original Premier League ad because I was doing a play at the time where I played a homeless person. So for the first time in my life, I had a beard,” he explained.
What caught the attention of fans and industry insiders alike was when Hunt was asked about the possibility of a fourth season for “Ted Lasso” or if the upcoming conclusion of season three would mark the end of the series. It turns out that Hunt had an encounter with none other than Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook.
During Cook’s visit to the set, he took a moment to address the cast in the locker room and expressed his gratitude for their hard work. Cook then added, “I sure hope there’s a Season 4.” While it remains uncertain whether there will indeed be a fourth season of “Ted Lasso,” the mention from the Apple CEO adds an exciting twist to the mix.

Jason Sudeikis, the star and co-creator of the show, has hinted at the possibility of spinoffs. However, Hunt maintains that there are no definitive answers at this point. The team behind “Ted Lasso” will take a well-deserved break after putting their all into the series for so long. Hunt shared, “Everything’s on the table now, including nothing. It’s been an all-in job for us for so long that we’re going to go away for a little bit and take a break, and then we’ll reconvene and figure out if something else is going to happen.”
Considering the significant time commitments required for new ventures, it may be a while before any decisions are made regarding the future of “Ted Lasso.” Several cast members have already moved on to explore other exciting opportunities. Nonetheless, fans of the show can remain hopeful that the beloved characters and their heartwarming storylines will continue to captivate audiences in some form or another.
