Apple Desktop Bus Mouse Datasheet

In 1986, Apple introduced a new pointing device to the market as part of their Apple Mouse series: the Apple Desktop Bus Mouse. This mouse was designed, manufactured, and sold by Apple from 1986 to 1993 and was first unveiled on September 15th of that year alongside the Apple IIGS.

One of the main features of the Apple Desktop Bus Mouse was its sleek, low-profile design. This was a significant departure from previous Apple mice, which had been known for their bulkier, more traditional look. The mouse also featured a new input connection method, the Apple Desktop BUS (ADB), and was designed to be compatible with both the Macintosh and Apple II series.

Despite its popularity, the Apple Desktop Bus Mouse was eventually discontinued on January 1, 1993. It was replaced by the Apple Desktop Bus Mouse II, which offered a number of improvements over the original design. Today, the Apple Desktop Bus Mouse is 37 years old and has since become a collector’s item for many Apple enthusiasts.

While it may no longer be in production, the Apple Desktop Bus Mouse remains an important piece of technology in the company’s history. Its innovative design and compatibility with multiple product lines were ahead of its time, and it continues to be remembered as one of Apple’s most iconic mice.
