Apple has just made it easier for AirPods Pro 2 owners to embrace the convenience of USB-C charging. The tech giant is now offering a standalone USB-C Charging Case, allowing users with the Lightning charging case to seamlessly upgrade. Priced at $99, this accessory is available for purchase through Apple’s online store.
The standalone USB-C AirPods Pro Case is now up for grabs on Apple’s official website. There was no official announcement of the product launch. According to the website orders placed today are expected to be delivered between December 27 and January 2. It’s worth noting that delivery falls after the Christmas holiday, so keep that in mind when planning your purchase.
In September, Apple introduced the latest version of the AirPods Pro 2, featuring a USB-C Charging Case. However, at that time, there was no standalone option for users with the Lightning-based AirPods Pro 2. This left many customers without an upgrade path. Now, for a $99 fee, those with the Lightning model can join the USB-C revolution and enjoy consistent charging across all their devices.
The USB-C Charging Case is fully compatible with the second-generation AirPods Pro. It retains the convenient MagSafe charging feature present in the Lightning model. Additionally, Apple has enhanced the dust resistance of the USB-C Charging Case to meet IP54 standards, providing added durability.
While the new USB-C Charging Case brings improvements like enhanced dust resistance, it does not introduce lossless audio for the Vision Pro. This feature is exclusive to the updated AirPods Pro 2 bundled with the USB-C Charging Case.
