Apple has just rolled out the latest updates for its iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 operating systems. iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 follow last month’s release of iOS 16.4, which brought new emoji and Safari Web Push Notifications.
To get the new updates, eligible iPhone and iPad users can simply head to Settings > General > Software Update and download them over the air. However, due to high demand, it may take a few minutes for the updates to reach all users.
iOS 16.5 introduces several notable additions and bug fixes. Firstly, there’s a new Pride Celebration wallpaper for the Lock Screen, paying homage to the LGBTQ+ community and culture. Additionally, Apple has introduced a Sports tab in Apple News, offering easy access to stories, scores, standings, and more for the teams and leagues users follow. Moreover, My Sports score and schedule cards in Apple News will directly take users to game pages with additional details.
The update also addresses some issues. It fixes problems with Spotlight, which could become unresponsive, as well as addresses an issue where Podcasts in CarPlay may fail to load content. Furthermore, it resolves an issue where Screen Time settings could reset or fail to sync across devices.

While iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 bring these improvements, it’s worth noting that they are likely among the final updates for iOS 16. Apple is currently shifting its focus to iOS 17, which is set to be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.
