According to a Weibo post shared by the Japanese blog Mac Otakara, Apple is reportedly planning to introduce a new color option for the upcoming iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models this spring. The rumored color is Yellow, a shade that hasn’t been seen on an iPhone since the iPhone 11 in 2019 and the iPhone XR in 2018. However, the authenticity of the Weibo account’s claim cannot be independently confirmed.
What’s more, multiple sources have informed MacRumors that Apple’s public relations team is planning a product briefing next week. While the subject of the briefing has yet to be determined, there is a possibility that it could be related to a new iPhone color being announced. Last year, Apple unveiled new Green colors for the iPhone 13 series on March 8, so it’s not unusual for the company to introduce new colors in the spring to boost sales midway through the product cycle.
In March 2021, Apple launched a new Green color for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, as well as a new Alpine Green color for the iPhone 13 Pro models. In April 2021, the company also made the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini available in Purple. With the iPhone 14 series reportedly on the horizon, it’s not surprising that Apple is looking to add a new color option to the lineup.
