Apple TV+ and BBC’s Christmas hit “The Boy, the Fox, the Mole, and the Horse” has secured another accolade by winning Best Animated Short Film at the 95th Academy Awards. The film, which is based on the book by writer and artist Charlie Mackesy, is a co-production between Apple TV+ and the UK’s BBC.
This is not the first time Apple TV+ has walked away with an Oscar. Last year, the streaming service won Best Film for “CODA”, proving that Apple TV+ is a force to be reckoned with in the world of film and television.
In a statement, Zack Van Amburg, Apple’s head of Worldwide Video, expressed pride in the team behind “The Boy, the Fox, the Mole, and the Horse”. “This powerful story has deeply affected audiences around the world and has shown that no matter what age you are or where you live, it’s never too late to spread more compassion, empathy, and kindness in our daily lives“, he said.
The film tells the story of a young boy who befriends a mole, a fox, and a horse, and the unexpected journey they take together. The film’s message of compassion and empathy has resonated with audiences and has earned critical acclaim, including awards from the UK’s BAFTAs and the animation-centric Annie Awards.
“The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse shines a light on the magic of discovering connection in unexpected places“, said Jamie Erlicht, Apple’s head of Worldwide Video, “and we are honored that the Academy has awarded this beautifully moving film tonight“.

In the world of streaming services, Apple TV+ is still a relatively new player. However, with its impressive track record of award-winning content, it is quickly establishing itself as a major contender in the industry. Apple TV+ continues to produce innovative and meaningful content, and we look forward to seeing what it has in store for us in the future.
