Apple TV+ is set to debut the highly anticipated mystery thriller series, “City on Fire,” on Friday, May 12, 2023. With a talented ensemble cast and a gripping storyline, the series is poised to become a major hit on the streaming platform.
Inspired by Garth Risk Hallberg’s novel of the same name, “City on Fire” is an eight-episode music-driven tale and family saga that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The series follows an NYU student named Samantha who is shot in Central Park on the Fourth of July in 2003. As the investigation into her murder unfolds, it becomes clear that Samantha is the key to unraveling a series of mysterious citywide fires and uncovering the secrets of a wealthy uptown real estate family.
Starring in the series are Wyatt Oleff, Chase Sui Wonders, Jemima Kirke, Nico Tortorella, Ashley Zukerman, Xavier Clyde, Max Milner, Alexandra Doke, Omid Abtahi, Kathleen Munroe, John Cameron Mitchell, Geoff Pierson and Beth Malone. Wonders plays Samantha, while Oleff takes on the role of Charlie, Samantha’s friend who becomes obsessed with solving her murder after she is killed.
“City on Fire” is written and executive produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the creative duo behind hit shows such as “Gossip Girl” and “The O.C.” They also serve as showrunners for the series under their production company, Fake Empire. Jesse Peretz directs four of the episodes and serves as executive producer, while Fake Empire’s Lis Rowinski serves as co-executive producer.
