Apple has unveiled its latest offering for the LGBTQ+ community: the new 2023 Pride band for Apple Watch. This time, the Pride Edition Sport Band features a speckled rainbow of colored pills on a white background. According to Apple, the band will be available for purchase from Apple Stores starting May 24.
To complete the package, Apple has also announced the release of a new Apple Watch Pride Celebration face and iPhone wallpaper, both of which will be available next week. The visual design of these new products is perfectly matched with the sport band.
In a statement released by the tech giant, Apple explained that the inspiration behind the new sport band is drawn from the “strength and beauty of the LGBTQ+ community.” The band features the original pride flag rainbow colors, along with black and brown, which represent Black and Latin communities. Additionally, the light blue, pink, and white colors represent transgender and nonbinary individuals.

One interesting thing about the production process of the new Pride band is that each band is unique. This is because the pills are slightly offset for each band during the compression molding process. The final band is compression-molded with a joyful rainbow of geometric shapes on a white base. The base material flows around each individual shape, creating small variations in their layout. This means that no two bands are exactly alike, reflecting the individuality of all members of the LGBTQ+ community.
If you’re interested in purchasing the new Pride band, it will cost $49 and will be available from May 24. To take full advantage of the Pride Celebration face, you will need watchOS 9.5. This feature will be available for free for all Apple Watch models, in 41 mm and 45 mm sizes. To get the new iPhone Pride wallpaper, you’ll need to be running iOS 16.5.
