In a recent update from the ever-reliable Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, it has been confirmed that Apple has no intentions of launching a third-generation Apple Watch SE this year. According to Gurman’s Power On newsletter, the tech giant is sticking to its two-year upgrade cycle for the Apple Watch SE line. This means fans can expect the release of the third-generation model in September 2024.
For those considering purchasing the current second-generation Apple Watch SE, this news brings a sigh of relief. With no anticipated upgrades for over a year, the device still has ample time left in its lifecycle and remains a safe buy for customers.
The Apple Watch SE is known for being the more budget-friendly option among Apple’s smartwatches, starting at a reasonable $249. However, it’s worth noting that it does lack some of the advanced features available in higher-end models. The ECG app, Blood Oxygen app, always-on display, and wrist temperature tracking are some of the functionalities not included in this version. Additionally, users will notice slightly thicker bezels and smaller case size options compared to the Apple Watch Series 7 and newer iterations.
Excitingly, this year will witness the launch of other Apple Watch models. Gurman revealed that the Apple Watch Series 9 will be available in two different sizes, catering to a broader range of customers. Furthermore, a second-generation Apple Watch Ultra is also on the horizon, promising more cutting-edge features and enhancements.

So, for those eagerly awaiting the next generation of Apple Watch SE, patience is the name of the game. Until then, customers can confidently opt for the current model, with its attractive price point and dependable performance. As always, Apple continues to push the boundaries of wearable technology, and fans can expect nothing short of innovative excellence when the new models finally hit the shelves.
