According to technology research firm Omdia, Apple is set to release larger display models of the “Apple Watch Series X” and the third-generation Apple Watch SE in 2024.
David Hsieh, an analyst at Omdia, shared the details in his research note, stating that the Series X would come in two display sizes – 1.89 inches and 2.04 inches – which would be 5-10% larger than the current Apple Watch Series 8. The name “Apple Watch Series X” is not confirmed, and Hsieh is likely using it as a placeholder based on its expected status as the tenth-generation Apple Watch.
Hsieh also expects the third-generation Apple Watch SE to have the same display sizes as the current Apple Watch Series 8, with slimmer bezels that would make it available in 41mm and 45mm case sizes. He predicts that the upcoming Apple Watch Series 9 will keep the same display sizes as the Series 8.
Meanwhile, Hsieh aligns with analysts Ross Young and Jeff Pu, who believe the next-generation Apple Watch Ultra will feature a larger 2.13-inch display, compared to its current 1.99-inch display.
Apple has not officially confirmed any of the details shared by Omdia, but it seems that the tech giant is on track to upgrade its popular smartwatch lineup with larger displays in the near future. Fans of the Apple Watch will have to wait until 2024 to see if these predictions come to fruition.
