A new documentary on the life and career of tennis legend Boris Becker is now streaming on Apple TV+. “Boom! Boom: The World vs. Boris Becker” is a two-part series that offers a comprehensive look at the highs and lows of Becker’s remarkable career. Featuring interviews with Becker himself, as well as other tennis greats like Novak Djokovic and Björn Borg, the documentary is a must-watch for sports fans.
Becker first rose to prominence in the 1980s, earning the nickname “Boom Boom” for his powerful opening serve. He won his first Wimbledon title at just 17 years old, becoming the youngest player to do so. He would go on to win Wimbledon two more times, as well as numerous other Grand Slam titles.
But despite his early success, things began to unravel for Becker later in his career. In 2015, he declared bankruptcy, owing millions of dollars to creditors. Then in early 2022, Becker was sentenced to prison for hiding assets during the bankruptcy process. The documentary includes exclusive access to Becker in the run-up to his time behind bars, offering a rare glimpse into his personal life.
Now out of prison, Becker is looking to get back into the world of tennis. He has expressed interest in returning to coaching and presenting and hopes to use his experience to help up-and-coming players avoid the pitfalls that he faced.
