Apple has announced the release date for the highly anticipated second season of Foundation, the sci-fi epic series based on Isaac Asimov’s beloved book series. The new season will premiere on July 14, and fans were given a glimpse of what’s to come with the release of the official trailer.
The trailer, which runs for a minute and a half, features the tagline “All Empires Fall,” and hints at the exciting storylines and characters that viewers can expect to see. The show follows the stories of four individuals who overcome crises, shifting loyalties, and complicated relationships that will determine the fate of humanity.
For those who missed the first season or haven’t read the books, Foundation takes place in a distant future where a group of scientists seeks to save humanity from an impending apocalypse. They use their knowledge of mathematics and science to predict the future, and their predictions form the basis of a new society called the Foundation.
The second season of Foundation promises to be just as thrilling as the first, with new characters joining the cast. Isabella Laughland will play Brother Constant, a cheerful and confident cleric whose job is evangelizing the Church of the Galactic Spirit across the Outer Reach. Kulvinder Ghir will portray Poly Verisof, the High Cleric of the Church of the Galactic Spirit, who is whip-smart and sarcastic, but also a terrible drunk.
Sandra Yi Sencindiver will play Enjoiner Rue, the politically savvy consigliere to Queen Sareth. At the same time, Ella-Rae Smith will portray Queen Sareth of Cloud Dominion, who is on a secret quest for revenge. Dimitri Leonidas will play Hober Mallow, a master trader with a sarcastic personality and questionable morals, who is summoned against his will to serve a higher, selfless cause.
The new season will also introduce Ben Daniels as Bel Roise, the last great general of the Superliminal Fleet and would-be conqueror of the Foundation, and Holt McCallany as Warden Jaegger Fount, the current Warden of Terminus and guardian of its citizens against external threats.
Mikael Persbrandt will play The Warlord of Kalgan, a powerful and dangerous man with psychic abilities, who is driven by hate in his quest to take over the galaxy. Rachel House will portray Tellem Bond, the mysterious leader of the Mentallics, while Nimrat Kaur will play Yanna Seldon.
