Google has just revealed that its Maps app will soon support Live Activities on iPhones. In the coming months, iPhone users will be able to receive turn-by-turn directions straight from their Lock Screen and Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
With Live Activities integration, users will have real-time access to the estimated time of arrival and directions for various forms of navigation such as walking, biking, public transit, and driving, all without having to unlock their phones and open the Google Maps app.
The new Live Activities feature was introduced with the release of iOS 16 and serves as live notifications on the Lock Screen. This allows users to stay updated with real-time events like sports games or food delivery orders.
Additionally, Live Activities integrate with the Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro models, displaying at-a-glance information at the top of the screen. Users can simply long-press on Dynamic Island to view more details.
