In a surprising turn of events, Hermès, renowned for its opulent craftsmanship, continues to offer the latest Apple Watch Series 9 with its signature leather bands, despite Apple’s recent commitment to eco-conscious materials. This revelation comes on the heels of Apple’s announcement of the Series 9, which, while retaining the beloved design of its predecessor, introduced a range of new watch bands, including the innovative FineWoven bands set to replace traditional leather ones.
Notably, Hermès has not only maintained its lineup of leather bands for the Apple Watch but has discreetly rolled out new editions of the Series 9 bundled with these iconic bands, exclusively available on their official website. These offerings comprise a selection of stainless steel Series 9 models bearing the distinguished Hermès signature.
While some of these leather bands are familiar to Apple Watch enthusiasts, it’s worth mentioning that Hermès has also introduced fresh designs, set to be paired with the Series 9, adding an air of exclusivity to this sought-after collaboration.
This move by Hermès to continue providing leather bands for the Series 9 raises a significant debate, given Apple’s recent announcement pledging to phase out leather in all its product lines, including iPhone accessories and Apple Watch bands. The tech giant is set to replace traditional leather with FineWoven, an elegant and durable twill fabricated from an impressive 68 percent post-consumer recycled content, underlining its commitment to sustainability.

This development isn’t the first time Apple Watch Hermès has found itself at the center of controversy. In 2020, Apple made headlines by omitting a power adapter from the standard Apple Watch box. However, the Hermès models continued to be packaged with a 5W adapter, prompting a swift response from Apple, who later discontinued including adapters with Hermès models.
At present, there remains a level of uncertainty surrounding the Series 9 models featuring leather bands offered by Hermès. It’s unclear whether these are standard models adorned with different bands or if they are still being co-branded and shipped in collaboration with Apple.
