Apple’s popular smart speakers, the HomePod and HomePod mini, are finally making their way to Singapore. The tech giant announced that starting Thursday, March 30th, customers in Singapore will be able to order the second-generation HomePod and the HomePod mini. The devices are expected to be available in-store starting April 6th.
The second-generation HomePod will be available for $429 SGD, while the HomePod mini will be priced at $139 SGD. The HomePod mini was first introduced in 2020 and has not received any hardware changes since, except for the addition of new color options. Meanwhile, the full-size HomePod was discontinued in 2021, but Apple introduced a second-generation model in January of this year.
The new HomePod features a design similar to the original smart speaker, but with a larger backlit touch surface and several other improvements. Although the new HomePod has two fewer tweeters, reviews suggest that it sounds virtually the same as the original. However, Siri still has some shortcomings compared to other virtual assistants.

It’s worth noting that the launch of the HomePod mini in Singapore likely rules out a second-generation model launching in the near future.
