In a surprising twist, the Twitter user “RGcloudS” has claimed that the upcoming iPhone 15 lineup will sport a groundbreaking glass-plastic hybrid lens with an ƒ/1.7 aperture. If this claim holds true, Apple will set a new standard in smartphone camera technology, making the iPhone 15 series the first global smartphone to feature such an innovative design. Notably, competitors like Xiaomi have only released devices with this technology exclusively in China, giving Apple a significant edge in the global market.
According to the leak, the hybrid lens will incorporate a single glass element alongside six plastic elements. This configuration marks a shift from the current iPhone 14 lineup, which boasts seven plastic lenses in its wide camera. The modification promises to enhance the overall camera performance, ensuring users capture stunning images with remarkable clarity and precision.
An ƒ/1.7 aperture is also in the works for the main camera on the iPhone 15 lineup, representing a slight upgrade from the ƒ/1.79 aperture found in the iPhone 14 Pro models.
