Apple’s iPadOS 17 is rumored to include several notable changes for iPad users. According to a recent leak from Twitter user @analyst941, the update will bring enhancements to Stage Manager, support for Lock Screen widgets and customization, and more.
However, it’s worth noting that the source of the leak doesn’t have an established track record of accurate iOS leaks, so these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt until they receive additional corroboration from other sources.
One of the primary areas of focus for iPadOS 17, according to the leaker, will be Stage Manager. Apple debuted Stage Manager as a new multitasking interface in iPadOS 16, but it received mixed feedback from iPad power users. As part of iPadOS 17, Apple reportedly has multiple updates in store for Stage Manager, although the basis of the functionality will remain the same.
The updates for Stage Manager include external monitor webcam support, audio output source settings, the ability to stream multiple audio and video sources at once with Stage Manager on, a resizable dock (in external display settings only), and a sleep iPad display, with the external display staying on.
The leaker also suggests that Apple is developing a “special version of iPadOS 17” for the rumored larger iPad that’s in the works. Sources like Ross Young and Bloomberg have said that Apple is working on a 14.1-inch iPad that could be launched sometime this year or in early 2024. There’s even been a rumor suggesting a 16-inch model is in development.
This “special version” of iPadOS 17 will reportedly include support for powering two 6K resolution external displays at 60Hz, although the source hasn’t provided any further details on what might be offered by this update.

Finally, the leaker claims that Apple will bring “all the features” of Lock Screen customization on the iPhone to the iPad as part of iPadOS 17. This will also reportedly include the option to adjust the positioning of the clock on the iPad’s Lock Screen for the first time.
While these rumors should be approached with skepticism until they’re confirmed by more reliable sources, the updates that the leaker suggests for iPadOS 17 could represent significant changes to the operating system and the way users interact with their iPads. As always, we’ll have to wait and see what Apple has in store for us.
