Apple has finally unveiled the official trailer for “Killers of the Flower Moon,” the highly-anticipated film adaptation based on the book of the same name. Directed by the legendary Martin Scorsese and featuring the brilliant Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role, this movie aims to bring the true story of a series of murders in the Osage community to life.
“Killers of the Flower Moon” boasts a star-studded cast, including not only DiCaprio but also Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Brendan Fraser, and more. Premiering at Cannes, the film has garnered immense critical acclaim, currently holding an impressive 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Film enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience this highly-anticipated project in cinemas starting October 6, with a wider release in the US and international markets from October 20. However, Apple has yet to announce a specific streaming date for those who prefer to enjoy movies from the comfort of their own homes.
What sets “Killers of the Flower Moon” apart is that it marks Apple’s first original film to receive a full wide theatrical release before hitting the Apple TV+ streaming platform. This move represents a new strategy for Apple, aiming to build anticipation and generate substantial buzz for their big-budget productions by first releasing them in cinemas. The goal is to leverage the momentum gained from the theatrical run and make an even more significant impact on the TV+ streaming service than they would have achieved with a direct-to-streaming approach.
