One of the standout features of macOS Sonoma is the introduction of interactive widgets that can be placed directly on your desktop. These widgets step out of the Today view and become more prominent and user-friendly. Even better, if you own an iPhone, you can seamlessly sync and interact with your iPhone widgets right on your Mac using Continuity.
Apple has upped its game in the screensaver department, offering captivating, slow-motion videos of global locations as screensavers. These videos are not just eye candy; they come with matching desktop wallpapers to give your Mac a fresh, vibrant look.
If you’re a gaming enthusiast, you’ll appreciate the new Game Mode tailored for Macs equipped with Apple silicon chips. This feature optimizes your CPU and GPU resources, resulting in smoother gaming performance.
For professionals who rely on video conferencing, macOS Sonoma has some exciting additions. The Presenter Overlay effect is perfect for sharing content during video calls, ensuring that you remain front and center. Plus, a high-performance mode for Screen Sharing promises higher frame rates and low-latency audio, ideal for content creators on the move.
Apple has taken privacy up a notch in Safari with macOS Sonoma. Private Browsing mode now requires Touch ID authentication, and Profiles allow you to neatly separate your work and personal browsing activities. You can also save your favorite websites as web apps on your desktop or dock, making them easily accessible with simplified toolbars.
Many features from iOS 17 have made their way to macOS Sonoma. The Messages app gets a sticker overhaul that transforms all your emojis into stickers. The People album now recognizes pets and Visual Lookup can identify food and symbols on labels and signs in videos.
macOS Sonoma introduces features like sharing AirTags via Find My and sharing iCloud Keychain passwords with friends and family. The Notes app now supports inline PDFs, and Siri can be activated without saying “Hey.”
These improvements, coupled with Apple’s relentless commitment to security and privacy, ensure that you get the best out of your Mac experience.
