Facebook’s parent company, Meta, has launched its own verification program for users called Meta Verified. The program grants users a blue checkmark badge and exclusive features, similar to Twitter’s paid offering. This subscription service allows people to verify their identity by providing a government-issued ID to show others that they are who they claim to be.
Meta Verified includes a range of features, including proactive account protection from hackers and various exclusive features such as stickers on Facebook, Instagram Stories, and Facebook Reels, as well as 100 Stars per month to show support for creators. Additionally, subscribers will have direct account support from customer service.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, described the service as “a subscription service that lets you verify your account with a government ID, get a blue badge, get extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and get direct access to customer support”.
Users can sign up for the verification process, which costs $14.99 per month on iOS and Android or $11.99 on the web. However, the service is currently only available in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States for individuals who are 18 years or older. Unfortunately, there is currently no option for businesses.

To get started with Meta Verified, users need to go to Settings on Facebook or Instagram and click on Accounts Center. Then, they should select Meta Verified, and an option called “Meta Verified available” will appear under their name and profile photo once the service is live. Users must set up a payment method and provide a government-issued ID to upload.

To be eligible for the service, users must enable two-factor authentication on their accounts. Additionally, subscribers won’t be able to change their profile name, photo, username, or date of birth unless they go through the verification procedure again.
