Exciting rumors are swirling around the tech sphere as the highly-anticipated Apple Watch Ultra is set to hit the market. According to an intriguing post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, a user who goes by the aliases “Setsuna Digital” or “Instant Digital” has spilled some juicy details about the upcoming wearable that have Apple enthusiasts buzzing with anticipation.
The major highlight of this leak is the Apple Watch Ultra’s expected weight reduction. Comparing it to its predecessor’s 61.3 grams, the new Ultra version is rumored to be much lighter, tipping the scales at a mere 32 grams – quite an impressive feat! For reference, that’s even lighter than the 41 mm aluminum Apple Watch Series 8.
But that’s not all; renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has added fuel to the fire, hinting at another exciting feature of the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra. Kuo speculates that the device will incorporate cutting-edge 3D-printed mechanical parts, possibly including the Digital Crown, Side Button, and Action Button.
These titanium components, which are currently made using CNC machining, could see a revolutionary transformation through the implementation of 3D printing technology. While the direct correlation between 3D printing and weight reduction is yet to be confirmed, industry insiders expect it to streamline production and curtail costs.
What adds credibility to Setsuna Digital’s revelation is its track record of accurate insights into Apple’s plans. Their previous claim about Apple introducing the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus in a new Yellow color option earlier this year turned out to be spot-on, bolstering the belief in their latest leak.
