Respected display analyst Ross Young recently shared a rumor on Twitter that the production of the 15-inch MacBook Air started in February and has been ramping up through March, with another increase planned for April. While the exact launch date is still unknown, Young believes it could happen in late April or early May.
However, earlier predictions that the 15-inch MacBook Air could launch in April may have been too optimistic. There has been no indication of a spring Apple event, and it seems unlikely that Apple would introduce a new MacBook Air iteration via a press release. It’s possible that the 15-inch MacBook Air could make its debut at the Worldwide Developers Keynote, which is set to take place on June 5.
Rumors suggest that the new MacBook Air will feature a 15.5-inch display, making it slightly smaller than the now-discontinued 15.4-inch MacBook Pro. It will slot in between the 13.6-inch MacBook Air and the 16-inch MacBook Pro, providing a larger display size for those who want a slimmer, lighter, and more affordable machine that is not a “Pro” notebook.
The 15-inch MacBook Air is expected to have the same design as the current M2 model, which could also receive a refresh alongside the new version. The exact chip to be used in the new MacBook Air is still unclear, but it may include the current-generation M2 and M2 Pro chips or the upcoming M3 chip series if it is ready for launch by WWDC.

The MacBook Air has been a popular device since its inception, known for its lightweight design, excellent battery life, and affordability compared to the MacBook Pro. The addition of a larger display size could make it even more appealing to those who want a larger screen but don’t necessarily need the additional power of the MacBook Pro.
As always, it’s important to take rumors with a grain of salt until official announcements are made. However, if the 15-inch MacBook Air does make an appearance in the coming months, it could be an exciting addition to Apple’s laptop lineup.
