Apple is expected to release the next major software update, iPadOS 17, later this year. With every new software update, there are always questions about which devices will lose compatibility. Recently, we received the second prediction about what iPads will be affected by this update.
According to iPhoneSoft, a reliable source with a track record of accurate predictions, iPadOS 17 will drop compatibility for three iPads. This latest rumor corroborates a previous report from an anonymous Twitter account that correctly predicted details about Apple software updates in the past.
The three iPads that are rumored to lose compatibility with iPadOS 17 are the iPad 5th gen, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro 1st gen, and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 1st gen. On the other hand, the iPads that are said to keep support with iPadOS 17 include the iPad Air 3rd gen and later, the iPad 6th gen and later, the iPad mini 5th gen and later, and the iPad Pro 2017 and later.
It’s worth noting that older devices may not support all the latest features and capabilities that come with the newest software, even if they are compatible with the update.
While this latest report sheds some light on what to expect from iPadOS 17, there are still conflicting reports about which iPhones will lose support with iOS 17. The first rumor claimed that three iPhones would lose support, while a second rumor suggested that all iPhones that can run iOS 16 will be able to run iOS 17.
