At the 75th Annual Writers Guild Awards, Apple TV+ hit series “Severance” took home top honors, winning both Best Drama and Best New Series, marking the only series to earn two major category wins. The Writers Guild Awards are known to honor outstanding writing in film, television, new media, news, radio, and promotional categories.
Moreover, celebrated kids and family series “Life by Ella” won Best Children’s Episodic, Long Form, and Specials for the “Prison or Palace” episode. Apple’s wins at the Writers Guild Awards continued a streak of victories from previous years. In 2022, Siân Heder’s Best Adapted Screenplay win for the Academy Award winner “CODA” was also from Apple TV+.
“Severance” has been a critically acclaimed series that has previously won several awards, including Primetime Emmy, AFI, and Art Directors Guild Awards, along with nominations from the Critics Choice Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, Directors Guild Awards, Producers Guild Awards, Gotham Awards, Motion Picture Sound Editors Awards, Television Critics Association Awards, Visual Effects Society Awards, and more. The show’s remarkable success is a testament to its fantastic writing, direction, and performances.
Apple’s popular and critically acclaimed series, “Ted Lasso”, “The Morning Show”, “The Problem With Jon Stewart”, “Helpsters”, and “Calls”, were also nominated for the Writers Guild Awards. In 2021, “Ted Lasso” won Best Comedy Series and Best New Series, and was also nominated for Best Episodic Comedy for the pilot episode.
