Snapchat, the popular social media app, has unveiled several updates coming soon to its iPhone application. During its Snap Summit event, the company announced that it will roll out its “My AI” chatbot to all users, introduce new features to Snapchat Stories, and enhance its Snap Map functionality.
The “My AI” chatbot feature, which was previously available exclusively to Snapchat Plus subscribers, will now be accessible to all users. The feature is powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology and is highly customizable, offering users the ability to personalize their chatbot with unique Bitmoji variations and custom names.
The chatbot can also be integrated into group chats and can provide users with recommendations on places to visit and relevant Lenses to use. Snapchat Plus subscribers will soon have access to an exclusive feature that allows them to Snap My AI and receive a generative Snap back.
Snapchat is also introducing new features to its Stories platform, including an “After Dark” option, support for public “Flashback” posts, and Communities. After Dark is a new type of Story that allows users to add content when they’re up late studying or hanging out, with the Story unfolding in the morning to recap the night. Communities, on the other hand, lets users share their perspectives with classmates.

Snap Map is also getting an update, with the addition of indefinite, background live location sharing. This is a clear competitor to Apple’s Find My platform, which allows friends and family to share real-time locations with each other. Snap Map is also adding new 3D elements to the map interface and improvements to suggested places to visit.
Snapchat’s updates are aimed at enhancing user experience and offering more customization options to its users. You can find more information about these updates on Snapchat’s website.
