Baseball fans have a new reason to celebrate as the official MLB app for iPhone now supports Live Activities. This latest update was introduced on March 10, allowing users to follow their favorite teams without even opening the app. With Live Activities, fans can track scores from the Lock Screen, making it easy to stay up to date on game progress while on the go.
But that’s not all. iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users can also access Live Activities through Dynamic Island. By choosing the “Track” option from the list of games, users can add up-to-date scoring to both the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, providing real-time updates at a glance.
While Live Activities for MLB games was previously offered through Apple’s TV app, it’s only now that the MLB app itself supports the feature. The MLB app was updated for the 2023 season on March 10, with Live Activities support being just one of many new features.
The app now boasts a unique onboarding experience, a Watch tab with 24/7 programming available, 2023 team schedules and tickets, a refreshed standings page, and more.

One question remains unanswered: why it took so long for the MLB app to implement Live Activities support? Given that MLB partners with Apple for content, it’s surprising that this feature wasn’t introduced sooner. However, fans can now enjoy the latest update to the fullest by downloading the app for free from the App Store.
A subscription is required to unlock all content, including access to every out-of-market game, which costs $24.99 per month or $150 for the year.
