According to a recent report from Bloomberg, Apple is rumored to be developing an upgraded Apple TV set-top-box with a faster processor that is set to launch next year.
The new box is expected to retain the same overall design as the current-generation model but will feature a faster processor for improved performance.
However, it is unlikely that the update will see added support for 8K, as the focus seems to be on improving the overall performance of the device.
Apple’s latest Apple TV, the 2022 Apple TV 4K, features the A15 Bionic chip, HDR10+ support, and more for a new, more affordable starting price over the previous-generation model.
This new upgraded Apple TV set-top-box will help Apple compete with other streaming devices on the market, such as Amazon’s Fire Stick, which is available for a starting price of less than $100.
In addition to this, rumors have also suggested that Apple is working separately on a new, more affordable Apple TV with a starting price sub-$100, to help Apple compete with brands such as Amazon, which have the Fire Stick available below $100.
