Wagner Moura, best known for his role as Pablo Escobar in “Narcos”, is set to star in Apple TV+’s latest crime drama series, “Sinking Spring”. The show, which is based on the book “Dope Thief” by Dennis Tafoya, follows the story of long-time Philly friends who pose as DEA agents to rob a house in the countryside, only to unravel the biggest narcotics corridor on the Eastern seaboard.
Originally, the role of Manny Cespedes, a good-hearted friend of Ray’s (Brian Tyree Henry), was set to be played by Michael Mando, known for his role in “Better Call Saul”. However, Deadline reports that Mando has been let go after an on-set physical altercation with another cast member.
Despite the setback, the show must go on, and Moura will step in to play Manny. The recasting is taking place during the filming of the series, which is directed and executive produced by Ridley Scott through his production company, Scott Free Productions.
