Apple TV users who have been experiencing issues with YouTube TV can now breathe a sigh of relief, as a new update is on its way to fix a few long-standing problems. According to a YouTube TV engineer who confirmed the news on Reddit, the update has started rolling out to Apple TV users.
While the update does not have an official changelog, a few changes were mentioned, including the improvement of HDR handling for YouTube TV on Apple TV. This means that the content will now match the dynamic range, allowing the HDR to turn on automatically. This simple feature has been missing for quite some time now, but it is finally being addressed.
Another issue that is being fixed in the update is the long-standing “black screen” bug. This problem has been ongoing for some time and has left the screen blank when resuming the YouTube TV app. Fortunately, this bug is also being addressed in the update, which will bring some much-needed relief to Apple TV users who have been experiencing this issue.
In addition to these fixes, there are also some general performance improvements in the update, although there are no specifics just yet. It’s unclear how long it will take for all Apple TV owners to receive this new YouTube TV update, but users are advised to check the App Store for updates to ensure they are on the latest version.
