The iPhone OS 3.0 (iOS 3.0) is an operating system designed and developed especially for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch by Apple in 2009. The system was released on June 17, 2009, and was preinstalled on the iPhone 3Gs, iPod touch 3rd Generation, and iPad.

The new iPhone OS added many improvements and features such as a system-wide “cut, copy, or paste” dialog bubble, allowing users to move content more easily. It also introduced Spotlight, a search indexing feature designed to help users locate specific information on their devices, such as contacts, email messages, or apps.

The home screen was expanded to let users add up to 11 pages, showcasing a total of 180 apps. The Messages app received support for MMS, while the Camera app received support for video recording on the iPhone 3Gs, and a new “Voice Memos” app lets users record their voice.

iPhone OS 3.0 has been renamed into iOS 3 when support for iPad was added in iOS 3.2.

This software got the last update (3.2.2) on August 11, 2010, and later has been replaced by a newer version iOS 4.0. Today iOS 3 is 15 years old!
