The Magic Mouse 2 is a pointing device designed, manufactured, and currently sold by Apple since 2015 as part of the Apple Mouse series. The Mouse was introduced on October 13, 2015, alongside new iMacs, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad 2.
Since its release, the Magic Mouse has been shipped alongside the Magic Keyboard with the iMacs Late 2015 and newer. It could also be purchased separately for $79.
The mouse features a lithium-ion rechargeable battery and a Lightning connector for charging and pairing. Unlike other similar models, the Magic Mouse 2 has its charging connector on the bottom, and thus cannot be used during recharging. The mouse uses an ST Microelectronics STM32F103VB 72 MHz 32-bit RISC ARM Cortex-M3 processor and includes the Broadcom BCM20733 Enhanced Data Rate Bluetooth 3.0.
The mouse is compatible with every Mac running OS X 10.11 El Capitan and higher, and the iPad running on iPadOS 13.4 or higher.
On December 14, 2017, Apple introduced the new iMac Pro with a new color of Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Keyboard, since then, the Magic Mouse 2 became available as a standalone product in two color versions; Silver and Space Gray. However, on May 15, 2021, Magic Mouse 2 in Space Gray color has been discontinued and available until stock lasts.
On April 20, 2021, Apple announced an all-new iMac in 7 colors bundled with color matching Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad. The new colors are Blue, Green, Pink, Yellow, Orange, and Purple.
On March 8, 2022, a new color of Magic Mouse 2 in the Silver & Black option was introduced alongside the new Mac Studio and Studio Display. The new colored mouse can be purchased separately for $99.
To this date, Magic Mouse 2 is still available on the market although in the meantime one of the color options was discontinued. Today Magic Mouse 2 is 8 years old!
