Apple fans may have to wait a while for the release of a new iPad, according to respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. In a series of tweets, Kuo predicts a slowdown in iPad shipments in 2023, with a year-over-year decline of 10-15%.
However, he suggests that the next iPad release could be a refreshed iPad mini, which is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2024.
Kuo believes that the refreshed iPad mini will offer minor improvements over the current generation, including an improved processor and display technology. The upgraded device is expected to begin mass shipments towards the end of 2023 or in the first half of 2024, meaning that it could be announced towards the end of the year or early next year.
Despite the slowdown in iPad shipments in 2023, Kuo predicts that iPad shipments are likely to increase in 2024, thanks to the release of a foldable iPad. Apple is rumored to be developing a foldable display, which will boast a carbon fiber kickstand.
